Develop and validate an innovative idea

Think.Make.Start. / TMS is a two-week, practice-oriented, interdisciplinary and competitive teaching format in which students from all faculties can participate (credits are given individually related to the study program). It is organised by the different chairs of TUM, TUM ForTe, and UnternehmerTUM. Students get access to the high-tech workshop Makerspace and a budget to transform their own ideas into real prototypes (mechatronic products)

After completing this module, students should be able to:- understand the connection between technological features, entrepreneurial opportunities and business ventures in new technologies- identify and evaluate entrepreneurial ideas in new technologies- apply concepts and tools to discover customer problems and formulate a solution-based approach using new technologies- demonstrate a set of skills including, but not limited to analytical skills, critical thinking, planning, building, and presenting a pitch deck- develop abilities to work in an entreprenurial team: communication, coordination, continuous improvement, goal management, rapid prototyping.

The Digital Product School (DPS) is a three-month training program where participants from a wide range of disciplines learn to build digital products in agile project teams. A prototype in twelve weeks! Software Engineers, AI Engineers, Interaction Designers, Product Managers and Product Marketing Managers can apply.

In five days you learn the basics on how to develop innovative customer centric and impact-driven business ideas while working on a challenge from a partner in an interdisciplinary student team. The Sprint is led by experienced Innovation Facilitators. You will get practical insights, useful templates and tools, constant feedback and opportunities to reflect on your learnings. A great opportunity to get out of your comfort zone, get to know new people and identify innovative ideas.

Do you want to learn how human-centric innovation works in practice? Then roll up your sleeves and join our 12-weeks program. Firstly, you will learn how to become a high-performing team and dive deep into one of the challenges that are worth solving. Then, you will explore the customer needs, associated with your challenge, and ideate on potential solutions. Finally, you will get your hands dirty with prototyping your idea that is capable of changing the status quo. You will work with cutting-edge technologies and network with domain experts. Every participant will be matched in an interdisciplinary team that gets support from a coach and access to prototyping facilities.

hackaTUM is the official hackathon of the Department of Computer Science at the Technical University of Munich, which has taken place annually since 2016 and has grown to be one of the largest of its kind in the EU. The hackathon comprises of a massive three-day event, where highly motivated participants of various levels and backgrounds work on exciting, cutting-edge projects with a host of leading industry partners. In addition to coding challenges, there are also excellent opportunities for academic-industry exchange, supported by workshops and networking events.

Students of diverse fields and from different universities are invited to participate in this hackathon and to display their creativity, passion, and problem-solving skills. Teams of up to five people work out solutions for these challenges. At the end of the Science Hack, the best three projects are rewarded with attractive prizes!
