The founding members of FlixBus knew each other from their university years or from their first jobs and were hoping to set up a company together. It was in 2009 that the three friends – Jochen, André and Daniel – first started discussing a bus service as a start-up idea, after having read in the then-coalition agreement of the German government about government plans to liberalize intercity bus services.
The first FlixBus hit the road in Germany in 2013. Since then, FlixMobility has revolutionized travel in Europe and the US through the use of smart and sustainabile technologies. In 2018, the first intercity trains under the FlixTrain brand name were launched in Germany. The FlixTeam’s goal is clear: to play a major role in shaping the future of mobility and to grow into the world’s greenest mobility service provider. Currently, FlixMobility is active in 30 countries, and over 100 million people have made use of FlixBuses and FlixTrains – with new travel stories being written every day.
