It was in 2017 that the first ideas for a technology spin-off in the field of rocket technology came about at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). A group of students decided to found the rocket technology initiative WARR (warr.de) and design special rocket engines. With great success: The aerospace industry quickly became interested in the products. As a result, Isar Aerospace was created in 2018 as a spin-off with the goal of making European space travel competitive internationally – and to access space more cost-efficient.
Since then, the Isar Aerospace team has achieved significant technological and commercial milestones, from engine component tests to memorandums of understanding with Airbus Defence and Space for the launch of several satellite constellations.
How Has Isar Aerospace Benefited from UnternehmerTUM?
UnternehmerTUM has provided Isar Aerospace with an extremely strong network from the spheres of industry and politics. This has opened important doors for the team in terms of suppliers and collaboration partners as well as the Technical University of Munich (TUM) itself. Its proximity to the TUM also gives the company access to fresh talent and media attention.
Unternehmertum Venture Capital Partners, the Initiative for Industrial Innovators and our XPRENEURS Incubator supported Isar Aerospace with capital and know-how.
